Tinwork accessories
It is said that tinswork started at the middle of the sixteenth Century in Huamanga province in Ayacucho department, it is considered that its origin is the product of the mixture of the Spanish and Peruvian culture, starting this new colonial art. In the start, vases, jars, etc were made. Then little by little tinwork developed into what it is today.
During the last few years most of the workshops were extinguished or are about to. This is due to various factors; little promotion, support and publicity from estate institutions and private institutions, it is thought that only a couple of families still work in this type of art.
The artisans are dedicated to the making of decorative products for the home such as candles, sailboats, crossings, mirrors, etc, using both contemporary and traditional designs. All of their products are embossed in natural colours and painted in various styles.
